There’s a short window in October when the forests of Slovenia and Croatia turn and the valleys fill with fog at first light. That’s the window we’re going after on this seven-day workshop.
We’ll work between the Julian Alps and the Plitvice Lakes. Beech and larch in full color, waterfalls running over limestone, church spires standing above the mist. Autumn does something unusual here: cold nights and still-warm water push fog down into the valleys before dawn, and it lifts in layers while you’re standing there shooting it. Some mornings you get ten minutes. Some mornings it lasts for hours.
We’ll be out morning and evening, and back at the hotel between shoots for image reviews and the kind of unhurried conversation about pictures that really only happens on a trip like this.
And there’s the rest of it. Small villages, long lunches, wine from vineyards a few miles down the road.
