FAQ

Who are you guys?

Red Dot Photo Workshops offers the world’s finest Leica-specific workshops, photo adventures, and experiences. Our team of Leica Experts has decades of combined experience with Leica cameras, lenses, accessories, and more. Red Dot Photo Workshops is proudly powered by Leica Store Miami.

Do I need to have a Leica to come on a trip?

All cameras are welcome on our trips!  That said, we do cater our experiences towards Leica users, who will enjoy the specialized knowledge of our Leica Experts, and the community created by spending time around other like-minded photographers.

Do you provide loaner Leica gear?

Yes – we do our best to accommodate requests for loaner Leica cameras and lenses, depending on current availability of the item(s) you are interested in trying.  New releases, limited and special editions may not be possible to loan out. Please let us know ahead of time if you’re interested in trying a specific camera/lens so we have time to source a loaner for you.

How do I know if this trip is right for me?

We do our best to make sure our trips have something for everyone, from new photographers to seasoned professionals.  Still, every trip is different, so we’ve created a rating system to give you an “at-a-glance” overview on each listing.  Some itineraries are more “photo-intensive”, while others are more relaxed.  Some may require heavy physical activity, while others are mostly “classroom-style”.  If you’re unsure about anything, just ask us and we’ll help you decide.

Photo Workshops vs. Photo Adventures

Our Photo Workshops provide classroom instruction and generally work to improve skills in a specific area (ex: Moab Astrophotography Workshop, New Orleans Fine Art Printing Workshop).  Photo Adventures, on the other hand, prioritize shooting for as much of the day as possible and taking advantage of every photographic opportunity available (ex: Iceland, Patagonia, Greenland).

How do I prepare for the trip?

A personalized Zoom call with your guides is included in all of our trips.  We will make sure you’ve got everything you need to have a great experience – from cameras and lenses, to jackets and boots, and even advice on booking your travel arrangements.

Are flights/travel expenses included?

No – flights to/from your destination are not included.

Are meals included in the ticket price?

Yes – unless otherwise specified, all meals are included.  Snacks and alcoholic beverages are not.

Is lodging included in the ticket price?

Yes – unless otherwise specified, all lodging during the trip is included.

What can I expect for meals?

We try to include fine dining experiences when possible on our trips, however our main priority is photography and depending on the destination we may or may not have access to a variety of dining options.  For example, dining out in Paris is a bit different than the very limited options available in Arctic destinations like Greenland or Norway.

How many people are on these trips?

Generally, our trips are limited to 8-12 guests and 2-3 guides, depending on the itinerary.  We usually aim for a 4-to-1 ratio of guests to guides, so you can get as much personalized attention as possible during the trip.

Can I bring a guest who isn’t a photographer?

Sure! Although some trips are better than others for non-photographer guests.  Our trip listings will usually mention whether this itinerary is suitable for bringing a guest, but if in doubt, just reach out and our guides will be happy to answer any questions.
