Fairbanks offers a wonderful combination of natural beauty, Arctic culture, and extraordinary photographic opportunities. During our stay, we’ll explore the area by day and venture into the Alaskan wilderness at night in search of the northern lights. Our afternoons will provide time to enjoy the region’s landscapes, local attractions, and photographic activities, while our evenings will be dedicated to aurora chasing and night photography.
The northern lights are a natural phenomenon, and sightings can never be guaranteed. However, with five nights in Fairbanks, expert local guides, and a flexible approach to our nighttime outings, we’ll give ourselves the best possible opportunity to experience and photograph the aurora.
Alaska’s weather can be cold and unpredictable, particularly during nighttime photography sessions. Warm, layered clothing, insulated footwear, gloves, and a good hat are essential. We’ll spend extended periods outdoors, often in remote locations, so comfort and preparation will be important. During the day, we’ll enjoy a more relaxed pace as we explore Fairbanks and the surrounding area.
This workshop is designed to be both a rewarding photographic experience and an enjoyable Alaskan adventure. You don’t need to be an experienced astrophotographer to participate—just a passion for photography, a sense of adventure, and a desire to experience the northern lights with a group of like-minded photographers.
