Eva Lépiz (San Cristóbal de las Casas, 1985) is a Mexican documentary photographer and visual educator based in Oaxaca. With more than two decades of experience, her work moves between documentary, editorial, and commercial photography, exploring themes of spirituality, migration, cultural identity, and intangible heritage. Her work has been published in international media including The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, and Süddeutsche Zeitung Magazine, and is part of the Toledo Photography Collection. She was a recipient of the National Geographic Covid-19 Emergency Fund for Journalists in 2020 and a finalist for Magnum Foundation’s Beyond The Silence.

Lépiz has studied with and been mentored by internationally recognized photographers including Antoine D’Agata, Joan Liftin, Yael Martínez, and Stella Johnson, and has participated in programs at the VII Academy. She has also worked as a producer and fixer for photographers including Alex Webb, Steve McCurry, and Nikos Economopoulos. She has more than ten years of teaching experience at institutions including the Centro Fotográfico Manuel Álvarez Bravo (CFMAB) and Centro de las Artes de San Agustín (CaSa) in Oaxaca. In 2026, she led a workshop with Leica Akademie, combining documentary photography, visual storytelling, and an ethical approach to working with communities. Her work was also presented in three exhibitions during the year, including Hacer Memoria, commemorating CaSa’s 20th anniversary, and Los que se quedaron, a documentary project focused on migration and the older adults who remain in their communities.
